Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC)

EEPC has opened an Office in Lagos which has become fully functional from June 2001.
The EEPC was set up in 1955 under the sponsorship of Ministry of Commerce, Government of India for promotion of export of engineering products, projects and services from India.
It is the largest export promotion council in India and has a membership of over 8500 Indian companies, covering the entire spectrum of engineering industry and consisting of large corporate houses, small and medium enterprises, trading companies and also business and trade associations.
It is the first export promotion organization in India to receive ISO 9002 certification.

Performance

During the last four decades, the Council played a pivotal role in transforming the profile of Indian engineering exports from a supplier of low value items to developing nations to a vibrant exporting nation.
The Indian engineering exports, which were during 1956-57 a meager US$ 10 million have crossed US$ 5 billion now.

Export Promotion Activities

International marketing of Indian engineering products forms a major plank in the activities of the Council.
The Council through it s overseas offices in Chicago, Dusseldorf, Lagos and Singapore, assists its member-companies on an ongoing basis, for identifying potential products and markets thereby also generating business enquiries for them.
The overseas offices maintain close liaison with buyers in the overseas markets and wherever necessary arranging their business promotion visits to India.

In addition to direct marketing, structured promotional events are organised on a regular basis so as to create an awareness on the capability of Indian engineering exporters.
The various promotional activities carried out on a regular basis are product specific delegation to selected countries, exclusive Indian engineering exhibition overseas, country participation in specialised trade fairs, catalogue display, buyers-sellers meet, product specific seminars and conferences, both in India and abroad.
The Council's publicity campaign, to highlight India's capability in the engineering sector, are generally carried out with release of advertisement and supplements in the leading business dailies and magazines abroad, screening of films on the engineering industry, etc.

The Council, to create increased awareness on India's rapid progress in the engineering sector, organizes wholly Indian Engineering Exhibition, known as INDIATECH.
These exhibitions are primarily meant to project to the potential buyers of the transformation of the Indian engineering industry from a supplier of low value, labour intensive products to technologically advanced items comparable with the products from the developed nations.
The Council had organised exclusive Indian engineering exhibitions in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Kenya, Nigeria, Sir Lanka, Egypt, Venezuela, and the next INDIATECH is to be held in UK followed by one in Australia.
